The Hart Center: Home of Holy Cross Crusaders Hockey
The Reverend Francis J. Hart Center, located at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, serves as the home for the Holy Cross Crusaders hockey team. Opened in 1975, this multi-purpose facility was named in honor of Reverend Hart, who significantly impacted the college's intramural sports for over 40 years. Following a major renovation in 2016, the Hart Center now includes a hockey rink, a 3,600-seat basketball arena, a swimming pool, and various other athletic facilities.
Holy Cross hockey has a rich history dating back to 1966 and competes in the Atlantic Hockey Association, having achieved notable success, including two NCAA Tournament appearances. The rink features modern amenities such as large video boards for replays and a sound system that enhances the game experience. Despite a low average attendance, the atmosphere remains lively with dedicated fans. Ticket prices are affordable, and concessions offer a mix of snacks and local craft beers. While not as modern as some newer facilities, the Hart Center remains a cherished home for Crusader hockey.
